Borderline Personality Disorder - Support Groups, Hot Lines, Message Boards, Therapists, and Programs

"Recovery is a process. It involves two steps forward, then a step back, to take a third step forward" stated A.J. Mahari suggested in a recent interview with BPDFamily, "it is so important to believe in yourself and in your process and have hope that recovery is possible - because it is."

The journey of recovery from Borderline Personality Disorder has many components to it. It is not the same for every individual. The various combinations of intervention needed to help you get better may include a combination of medication, talk therapy, and various different types of psychotherapy, such as TFT, CBT, DBT, Schema, MFT, STEPPS, psychotherapy. Seeking to recover from Borderline Personality Disorder is often a long process. "The good news is that by applying yourself to learning as much as you can about what having BPD means, you can fairly quickly begin to learn how to change your suffering into manageable pain" says Mahari.

Urgent Needs - Are you feeling really down? Many people with Borderline Personality Disorder are depressed at one time or another. All suicidal ideation should be taken seriously. Often there is a progression over time from harmless ideations all the way to the act. The earlier you intercept this progression, the more likely harm can be averted. Local telephone counselors are great - they can do everything from just answering simple questions to being a friend, to suggesting places to go for immediate / low cost assistance, to dispatching emergency assistance in the rare event that it is needed.
